WANT TO TRY AF WATERPIPE ?
Smoking water pipes, or hookahs, is a venerable tradition in the Middle East, where it is the quintessence of relaxation, and the trend is spreading. Mac Baren therefore now also produces a tobacco specially designed for use in water pipes. A tobacco that differs significantly from the type most pipe smokers are familiar with. Initially water pipe tobacco is being sold in the Middle East, but will later become a natural part of the range throughout the world

Just imagine it: A pleasant dinner has just been finished and must be rounded off with some good tobacco. In comes the host with a water pipe and places it in the middle of the table. The pipe is lit - and offered to one guest after another. But even though this picture is obviously not a run of the mill sight in the Western latitudes, could it be that we might also find inspiration here?
“First, smoking a water pipe is primarily extremely cosy and very relaxing. There are typically one or two water pipes for a larger gathering which circulate among the guests, who have their own mouthpieces,” relates Mac Baren's Marketing Manager, Erik Mønster, who has lived in the Middle East himself. |

“The tobacco used in water pipes is perfectly ordinary tobacco to which fruit flavouring has been added. In addition the tobacco is extremely mild. So it is actually a sheer pleasure to smoke a water pipe, even for non-smokers, and nowhere near as strong as an ordinary pipe.”
The pipe is equipped with a water-filled flask which acts as a filter and collects some of the impurities. But the tobacco is actually not alight, it is placed on glowing charcoal so that the tobacco smoke is inhaled through the pieces of charcoal.

“Smoking a water pipe is first and foremost a collective pleasure and it is naturally a fascinating sight to pass by a water pipe café and see 500 men meditating with their water pipes. Over and above this it was an obvious step for us to enter a new product area which we have been keeping an eye on for quite some time and which is also fairly similar to what we are familiar with already. We feel that we can add something new where this special tobacco used in water pipes is concerned. Not least because we make the same high demands on quality in connection with our new water pipe tobacco as we do on our other products.” |
