A REAL TOBACCO EVENING

Try a tobacco evening and see for yourself what goes on in the wonderful world of tobacco. But forget all about factory production where a single, huge machine stands there thumping away. As always reality is considerably more colourful and many-sided, also when it come to the sensitive science that underlies the production of quality tobacco. A science that Mac Baren's international product specialist, Per Georg Jensen, travels around the world revealing.

“It naturally involves a good deal of craftsmanship and a solid knowledge of tobacco leaf.”. Per Georg Jensen knows what he is talking about because there are really many fine points in the production of good tobacco. He is delighted to share these insights when Mac Baren, in collaboration with its Certified Dealers around the world, open their doors and bid visitors welcome to a real tobacco evening. The evenings are held all over the world, except in Mac Baren's fatherland, Denmark, where legislation forbids them. But most frequently in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands".

“The arrangement is an evening of pleasure which begins with a lecture on tobacco leaf, tobacco cutting, and Mac Baren's brands in general. Next there is an opportunity to ask questions on the subjects I have been through. Then if there are any questions about pipe smoking as a whole, we have a little chat about them.”

"My mission is to provide people with a knowledge of pipe tobacco that they did not possess in advance"

“The purpose of such evenings is primarily to offer smokers an insight into the wonderful world of tobacco, in the same way as a wine tasting session provides an insight into the different types of wine. My mission is to provide people with a knowledge of pipe tobacco that they did not possess in advance.” The arrangements are rounded off with the guests being invited into the tobacco bar. Here, all the Mac Baren brands available in the country in question are on display, and the guests can smell them, stop their pipes with them and perhaps find a brand that will become their favourite tobacco".

In addition to being an international product specialist at Mac Baren, Per Georg Jensen has also reached the years of discretion in the universe of pipe smoking. He has been making pipes for 23 years.
