SELECTION OF RAW TOBACCOS
In our raw tobacco warehouse, we have enough tobacco for two years' production, and the warehouse contains many types and variations. The finished tobacco blend contains up to 35 different types of raw tobacco. If we run out of a tobacco with specific qualities, we can find a tobacco we can use instead in the large selection in our warehouse.
The work of checking and finding the right raw tobaccos is a craft that requires great experience. And it is not work you can learn by theoretical study; it is a matter of practical experience and the ability to taste small nuances and distinctions.
Every tobacco blend has its own recipe, from the selection of raw tobaccos to special production methods. Every factor has a large influence on the final blend and the taste experience. The first part of the recipe is the mixture of various raw tobaccos.
The tobaccos intended for a base mixture – for example seven different Virginia tobaccos – are collected in a batch. After production, this lot has become a base mixture that can be used in various pipe tobaccos or can be cut and packed as a finished Mac Baren blend.
