Producing Mac baren pipe tobacco

It is well known that wine bottles are stamped with the year in which the wine was produced. It is also acknowledged that wines produced by a given vineyard in different years vary in taste. No one expects that them to taste the same.

That is not the way it is with pipe tobacco. When a pipe smoker uses a particular brand of tobacco, he expects that the taste will be the same year in and year out. When we consider that tobacco is a natural product that can vary in taste and consistency from year to year, it is clear that much knowledge and experience is required in order to produce a tobacco blend that gives the pipe smoker the same good taste experience year after year. The following sections describe the process we put tobacco through before it is ready to be filled into a pipe as a finished blend.

Selection of the right raw tobacco

Steaming and threshing

Casing – enhancing the tobacco taste
